GuruFind is a Sri Lankan portal that helps parents and students find academic tuition teachers, and helps teachers manage their profile and classes. This policy explains what we collect and why.

Account details: your name, email address and/or mobile number, preferred language, and a password (stored only as a one-way hash) or your Google sign-in identifier.

Teacher profile information: subjects, grades, mediums, areas, qualifications, fees, achievements, photos and any verification documents you upload.

Class Manager data (teachers only): students, guardians’ contact details, attendance, fees and expenses that a teacher enters to run their classes. This is held on the teacher’s behalf and is visible to that teacher and, in a read-only oversight capacity, to authorised GuruFind administrators.

Activity on the site: pages viewed, searches run (filters and result counts, not the free text you typed), profile views and when you tap to contact a teacher. Visitors are counted using a salted hash of address and browser; we do not store IP addresses for this.

Reviews, feedback and messages you choose to send us.

Payment records for teacher subscriptions, such as the plan, amount, reference and uploaded payment slip. We do not store card numbers.

To run the service: sign you in, show teacher profiles in search, let parents contact teachers, and let teachers manage their classes.

To verify teachers, review payments, moderate reviews and keep the platform safe.

To send one-time codes and service messages by SMS or email.

To understand demand, such as which subjects and areas are searched, using aggregated counts. Small groups are never shown individually.

To improve and secure GuruFind and to comply with the law.

An approved teacher profile is public: name, photo, subjects, areas, qualifications, fees, reviews and the contact options the teacher has chosen to show. Do not put anything on your profile that you do not want strangers to see.

Your saved teachers, searches and account details are not public.

We do not sell your personal information.

When a parent contacts a teacher through GuruFind, the teacher receives the details the parent chooses to provide.

We use service providers to host the site, send SMS and email, and let you sign in with Google. They process data only to provide those services.

We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of users.

We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and to remember your language. We do not use advertising cookies.

GuruFind is intended for parents, guardians and teachers. Students’ details held in Class Manager are entered by their teacher, who is responsible for having the guardian’s permission to record them. Children should not create accounts on their own.

We protect data with encrypted connections, hashed passwords and role-based access for administrators. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password.

We keep your information while your account is active and as needed for legal, accounting and dispute purposes. Activity logs are kept in anonymised form.

You can view and update your account and profile at any time after signing in.

You can ask us to correct or delete your account and personal data, or to stop using it for a purpose, by contacting us below. Some records may need to be kept where the law requires it.

If we make material changes we will update the date above and, where appropriate, tell you on the site.
